Hello!
from my little corner of Scotland!
As autumn shifts to winter, the landscape is changing quickly. Heavy blankets of fog roll through the valleys and icy winds approach from the north. Despite the challenging weather we face in winter, my spirits are still high and I am determined to keep my good habits of painting outside regularly. I’m looking at it like a challenge - and I’m better prepared this year. I’ve got warmer layers, hand-warmers, and waterproof winter boots. What more does a plein air painter need in winter?
Ok, maybe a little sunshine doesn’t hurt!

Thank you so much to everyone who has already ordered, this directly supports me and helps me to continue doing what I love for a living!
On a Personal Note…
As someone who spends the majority of daylight hours outside and gets all her inspiration from nature, I find this time of year very challenging. My world suddenly shrinks. There are near constant sheets of rain rolling through, and it’s nearing 0°C at night. Soon we will have less than 7 hours of daylight each day. It takes way more effort to do anything, as lack of daylight really drains the human body of energy. Even while taking Vitamin D, I still struggle to keep my sanity.
When the frequent storms roll through, the heavy clouds block our limited sunlight, making 2:00 PM feel like sunset! As you can see from this image:
Take care and see you next time,
~ Sarah
